October 2020’s Top 5 HHM Patterns — Rustic Red Designs!

crochet designs oct 2020

Fall is in full swing at Happily Hooked! We asked our designers to seek inspiration from the crisp autumn air, and the vibrant, fiery colors of the fall leaves. And from their designs, we selected our top patterns for this month!

Welcome to the Rustic Red issue of Happily Hooked. Twelve festive designs you can cozy up to and make for gifts, craft fair inventory, or just as something nice for yourself.

Here’s a glimpse at five of these brand new designs!

A sneak peek at 5 of the patterns inside our Rustic Red issue!

1. Nana’s Kitchen Tapestry Potholder by Raffaela Tassoni

This vintage-look potholder set could be done in any colorway, but this autumn red is just right for the season.

Use #3 weight cotton yarn, a small hook, and tight stitches to get the best effect from this design. Then invert the colors to make a matching pair of beautiful, vintage-style potholders!

New to tapestry? No problem … a lot of our members are. The Happily Hooked team is proud to offer support for every pattern. Via email, or in our private members’ community — all you have to do is ask!

You can't beat cozy and cute socks when the weather starts to cool down.

It’s hard to find good sock patterns. Here’s one you’ll love! Worked from the top down, the design is simple and fast and uses fingering weight sock yarn.

If you’re an advanced beginner, this design is a great opportunity to step up your skills. If you’ve been crafting a while, it’s a pleasant pattern with excellent gifting potential.

New Stitch Alert: These socks use the Linked Double stitch. Learn how to do it here:

3. Harvest Pillow by Ezgi Tandogan Onat

The bright bursts of orange and red mimic fallen leaves.

Don’t you love designs that appear complex but are actually quite easy? The Harvest Pillow is one of those patterns! No wonder it makes our top 5 list. A mesmerizing pattern with bold, fall colors — this festive pillow is sure to get lots of “wows” from friends and family.

Use DK weight yarn and a 16-inch pillow form. The design is rated intermediate, but advanced beginners should feel confident in trying it out.

This beautiful wrap works up quickly in worsted weight yarn. Perfect to throw around your shoulders for fall walks.

We predict this is going to a VERY popular design this month. Beautiful, unique, approachable, and the perfect wrap for the oncoming cooler weather.

Make the shawl with worsted weight yarn — create on a budget by digging into your existing stash. The design is rated EASY for all skill levels.

Entrelac, produced with Tunisian, is a lovely pattern and this shawl is absolutely exquisite.

Tunisian and wannabe Tunisian crocheters, listen up! Here’s a gorgeous, intricately designed shawl with a tight weave and a hypnotic pattern. It’s rated advanced for a good reason — so bring your sense of adventure to this design.

You’ll need DK weight yarn (the designer used 15 skeins of Scheepjes Secret Garden) and an I/9 (5.5mm) Tunisian hook.
