Happily Hooked Members: What are they making this month?

Happily Hooked Member Fun May 2021

Being a Happily Hooked member is having access to amazing patterns, sure. Another, maybe even MORE wonderful part is the Members-Only group on Facebook. Our fantastic magazine editors, Courtney and Shawna spend a lot of their own time in this group, regularly visiting with members and checking out their work.

Members share everything, from pictures of their latest WIP to advice about what to make with stash yarn, to how to get past a particularly tough part in a pattern. But they also share personal moments and complete acceptance.

Our Happily Hooked members are more than an online group, they're a community. One filled with smiles and laughs and good times.

So, let's check out what our Happily Hooked members have been up to lately! I bring you:

Happily Hooked Member Fun for May 2021

So, I like to visit the Facebook group, too, but I don't get enough time there. When you visit, you'll see Courtney as an admin because she spends a lot of her own time there.

If you've ever watched over a FB group, you KNOW the amount of time it takes and how exhausting it is. It is true dedication! Thanks to her tireless efforts, it is a sweet, pleasant, happy, smiling, ACCEPTING place. No jerks allowed!

Happily Hooked member creations

Now, here are just a few of the gorgeous items that our members are making and sharing with the rest of the group this month. Whether you're a more experienced yarn artists or a crochet newbie, this group will embrace you and what you're working on. Some of us have been hooking for years, and some of us are just getting started for the very first time. We're all here to help each other at all times. It's really cool that way!

Nestariel Blanket by Happily Hooked member Barbara Seibert Nelle

This is one of my all-time favorite blanket patterns so far. Isn't it beautiful? The designer is Krisztina Anna Matejcsok-Edomer from K.A.M.E. Crochet and we feature her designs regularly. Love!

One of the great things about this group is the way everyone supports one another. It's really heartwarming. As an “experienced” yarn artist, I've learned so much here!

I really thought I knew a lot since I've been hooking for 30+ years. I am shocked at how much I've learned since joining Happily Hooked! Before I started working here, I was a member, too. I loved it so much, I applied for a job! Seriously! (And I'm rarely serious.)

Dolce Shawl by Happily Hooked member Cristina Guillermo

Cristina helped test this pattern to make sure it was as error-free as possible! Isn't this beautiful? The designer is Elisabeth Davis de Herraiz. This is a really popular pattern among our members and I'm currently making it, too!

We triple-test every pattern. And by “we” I mean Shawna. If you've ever ripped out half a project, only to find that it wasn't YOUR fault the stitch count wasn't right, you'll REALLY appreciate this hard work!

Shawna works with the testers and takes the helm to make sure the patterns are all consistent. Trust me, once you go Happily Hooked, you're pattern-spoiled for life.

Sweet Stripes Hat by Happily Hooked member Mary Hunter

Mary made this adorable hat in cotton yarn. The pattern has several sizes so you can make it for children thru adults. The designer is Lisa Fox and she is one of my favorites. She also has a few articles on our blog!

Our issues have plenty of smaller patterns that you can make quickly, as well as large projects that may take you several weeks. We have a great mix and there's something for everyone!

Member of the Month

Every month in our magazine, we highlight a new Member of the Month. Facebook has fancy stats revealing the most active person in the group over the past month and May's Member of the Month is Pamela Williams-Crawley.

Happily Hooked members get to know all about Pamela in next month's issue! In the meantime, here are just some of the amazing projects that Pamela has made and shared with us in the Members-only Facebook group. Enjoy!

Member of the Month Pam's mandalaPamela created this spectacular wall hanging for an auction for her daughter's cheer group. Her color choice is really rich and adds a lot of depth. Very nice!

Happily Hooked Member of the Month Pam's mandala and shawlLikewise, great color choices by Pamela on these two projects! The self-striping yarn really does the trick here. Pamela mounted the mandala on a hula hoop and it's so artfully done. The Dolce Shawl is a huge hit with our members. This is the same pattern Cristina used —you can see how different it looks with a color change!
