3 tips for working with cake yarns
Now, while some of these patterns use single-color yarns and traditional color changes, they work up wonderfully with color-changing yarn, instead. Here are some additional ways to use self-striping yarn, like Caron Cakes, and other brands:
- Try one of your favorite patterns with a self-striping yarn as a substitution. For instance, grab your favorite blanket pattern, some color-changing yarn in your favorite color combos, and jump right in!
- Combine one of these multicolor yarns with complementary single colors and create beautifully striped patterns with extra interest!
- Don't be afraid to use textured stitches with these yarns! Although we tend to save our “fancy” stitches for single-color yarns so they stand out, the long color changes in these yarns mean you get the best of both worlds.
