Hopefully, the holidays are over, and all those handmade gifts are done, delivered, and have delighted their recipients. Now you have time to create for fun!
Remember, gift-giving doesn’t end with the holidays. There are those little gifts throughout the year that pop up. You know — the hostess gift for your neighbor who has the girls over for cocktails. Or maybe the “thank you” to the co-worker who covered while you were out sick. Plus, the birthdays and get-well situations for friends and family.
The five types of gifts I included have hundreds of themed patterns you can find on the internet. I’m sure you can find the perfect gift for any occasion or recipient. To help get you started, I included some of my favorite patterns in each category. And now we present:

Bookmarks
Bookmarks are a great gift. You can give them on their own or tuck one in a book. I recently went back to reading paper books instead of eBooks because my device’s light made it harder to fall asleep. I have been scrambling for something to use as a bookmark and usually end up with a torn piece of an envelope or a Post-it note. I’ll have to make a few for myself! You can make them as unique as your recipient, depending on your color choices.

Coasters
Coasters are a fun gift to give and to get! You can customize them for someone’s home or office, and they work well as a housewarming or hostess gift. I currently have them all over my house, especially with us all schooling and working from home.
4 – Chicken Butt Coaster by Wilmade
This peeking chicken coaster made me giggle. Perfect for that friend with a farm-style kitchen or as a “thank you” for fresh eggs from a neighbor who raises chickens.
5 – Boho Mug Rug with Tassels by MyAlpacaStudio
I thought these Celtic knot coasters were so pretty and could be made in so many color combinations to match any decor. It is not a free pattern, but it is the most unique “mug-rug” I have seen.
Cozies
I called this category Cozies, but I found lots of great patterns for holders of different items. These giftable patterns are as unique as you make them with yarn color choices or embellishments.

The holder for hand sanitizer is certainly timely right now. It would be a cute gift for the school nurse or anyone who works in healthcare. You can embellish them any way you want, so they’re great for anyone!

A lip balm holder is a great winter accessory. Make them for your dog walker, the kid that shovels your driveway, or for a friend who likes to walk outdoors.

This tissue box cover would be perfect for sending to your child’s school with those tissue box donations they ask for at the beginning and middle of the year.

Magnets
Magnets are fun for the refrigerator, the front of a metal file cabinet, or a magnetic bulletin board. And everyone needs them to hold up something! They're the perfect gift, and they're as unique as the person you're giving them to!
9 – Shield, Sword, and Bow Set by One & Two Company
This sword and shield set is perfect for the D&D or Game of Thrones fan. Just lightly starch it and glue magnets on the back.

These animals are so cute. These patterns are in UK terms, but she lists the substitutions for you. Adorable!
Amigurumi
The last category of unique gifts is near and dear to my heart, amigurumi! I love amigurumi, and there are so many patterns of all kinds out on the internet. Here are a couple of favorites I found this week.
11 – Beethoven and Mozart Amigurumis by Gala Rebés for Galamigurumis
These amigurumi Mozart and Beethoven would be perfect gifts for your child’s music teacher or the musician at your place of worship. The site is in Spanish but is easy to use with a website translator, like Google Translate. Just be sure to read thoroughly and take your time.
The patterns here are AMAZING! What a treasure trove!
